Born in Texas, Dave spent his high school years in beautiful Harbor Springs, Michigan. While only one semester away from a degree in math, Dave was drawn to photography while watching a television show on underwater wildlife.
His true passion was uncovered and he soon abandoned his current plan and enrolled in the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, the same school attended by famed Harbor Springs photographer, Bruce Gathman.
Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Dave pursued masters work at the same university. His seven years of university level study in photography covered every aspect of the science, including but not limited to portraiture, landscape, and commercial shots. Dave’s experience has covered areas many photographers only dream about, such as working with IMAX cameras, NASA’s jet propulsion laboratories, shooting a bullet mid-air, and much more.
Dave was fortunate to have a strong creative force riving him through his studies. He took that creativity and applied it to the science of photography and the result is incomparable, unrivaled art in the form of photography.
“Creativity is internal and cannot be learned. One cannot attend art school to learn creativity. Creativity is something taken with you to art school.”
